Bootcamps are an opportunity to hone existing skills and learn new ways of working with AWS. This year, we’re offering Technical Bootcamps, Business Bootcamps, Partner Bootcamps, and AWS Certification Exam Readiness Bootcamps. Bootcamps are offered Monday and Tuesday, and run either half a day (8AM—12 Noon and 1PM—5PM) or for a full day (9AM—5PM).

Note: All students must bring their own laptop (Windows/OSX/Linux all supported). Tablets are not appropriate. We also recommend having the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

To register for one or more bootcamps, you must first register for re:Invent. Except for the Partner Bootcamps, each bootcamp costs $225—$600 in addition to the re:Invent conference pass. Partner Bootcamps are offered exclusively to members of the AWS Partner Network (APN).

Technical and Business Bootcamps

Technical Bootcamps are for users responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based solutions on AWS. In these bootcamps, you’ll learn from experienced AWS instructors and solutions architects who bring their extensive technical skills and real-world experience to each class. Each full-day bootcamp includes a mix of instructor-led presentations and hands-on exercises.

TECHNICAL AND BUSINESS BOOTCAMPS

PRACTICAL DATA SCIENCE WITH AMAZON SAGEMAKER

In this course, learn how to solve a real-world use case with machine learning and produce actionable results using Amazon SageMaker. This course teaches you how to use Amazon SageMaker to cover the different stages of the typical data science process, from analyzing and visualizing a data set, to preparing the data and feature engineering, down to the practical aspects of model building, training, tuning and deployment.

VIRTUAL ESCAPE ROOM

This introductory half-day course presents a curated list of technical solutions based on AWS services. While deeply immersed in a 3D first-person game, as a player you learn to design and build various AWS architectures. To finish the game, you must solve puzzles using the AWS Management Console to escape from locked rooms in the 3D game. Each puzzle represents a new learning experience, and you unlock new challenges by going through guided labs. At the end of the session, you will have gained real-world experience with AWS solutions that increase knowledge of AWS best practices, services, and key features.

BUILD SERVERLESS MONITORING FRAMEWORK FOR APPLICATIONS MIGRATED TO AWS

This half day, course provides an in-depth, hands-on introduction to architecting and managing serverless monitoring for different types of applications migrated to AWS, based on AWS services (AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Config, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon CloudWatch Logs, etc.) You can then compete to build an innovative serverless monitoring system on example applications and architect it appropriately according to the best practices of monitoring on AWS.

IOT IN SCALE: HOW TO MONITOR AND MANAGE AN IOT SOLUTION USING AWS SERVICES

In this half-day, advanced-level course, you learn how to overcome the challenges of managing large fleets of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including provisioning, setting configurations and updates, and protecting fleets from threats. You also learn how to apply best practices that leverage AWS IoT services to successfully manage and monitor large fleets.
You have the opportunity to dive deep into each of the services to build an IoT solution through guided, hands-on labs. Practical exercises include working with AWS IoT Core for device provisioning, AWS IoT Device Management for fleet handling and OTA updates, and AWS IoT Device Defender to extend device security and audit.

PREDICT THE FUTURE WITH TIME SERIES FORECASTING & DEEP NEURAL NETWORKS

Forecasting is an entry point to applying machine learning across many industries. Whether it’s optimizing the supply chain through better product demand forecasts, allocating computing resources more effectively by predicting web server traffic, or saving lives by staffing hospitals to meet patient needs, there are few domains where investments into accurate forecasts don’t return their investments quickly. This course teaches you to create and deploy an accurate custom forecasting model using Amazon SageMaker.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS ALL MY BIG DATA (HAPPENING)?

In this half-day course, you will use Amazon Athena, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Elasticsearch Service (Amazon ES) to discover, query, and visualize geospatial data sets. Finding business intelligence in data often means drawing unexpected conclusions about correlations, and geolocation of data across time can lead to interesting findings. You will learn how to enable geospatial querying for a variety of data sources and visualize the results on a map.

BUILDING AN AWS CLOUD ADOPTION BUSINESS CASE

In this intermediate half-day course, you learn how a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) goes beyond policy writing and governance to transition an organization to the cloud to build a reusable foundation of capabilities to accelerate delivery for application teams. The course also covers the key components of the Cloud Operating Model, such as roles, responsibilities, tools, and processes to support the cloud journey, while ensuring adherence to corporate standards for architecture, operations, security, and finance. course covers high-level Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) business perspectives, financial and economic aspects, and the business value benefits of building the business case. It examines factors such as people and resource modeling, governance, operations, and cost modeling. Additionally, you learn how to calculate the total cost of migration (TCM), the total cost of operation (TCO), and the total cost of decommission (TCD).

BUILDING AN EMPOWERED CCOE ORGANIZATION

The introductory-level full day course is intended for individuals who seek an overall understanding of the AWS Cloud, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. It includes lab exercises reinforcing some of the core concepts of the lecture.

Partner Bootcamps

Partner Bootcamps are offered exclusively to members of the AWS Partner Network (APN). These bootcamps help APN Partners gain a greater understanding of how AWS solutions address customer business requirements.

AWS SOLUTIONS TRAINING FOR PARTNERS: FOUNDATION

This course is intended to introduce the basic skills needed to lead pre-sales and AWS technical engagements with customers. Using a simple, case study-based approach, you’ll learn the frameworks, techniques, and guidelines critical to assessing customer needs, capturing requirements, and translating those requirements into AWS solutions.

AWS SOLUTIONS TRAINING FOR PARTNERS: MACHINE LEARNING ON AWS

This course provides a technical introduction to Machine Learning on AWS. The course highlights the use of Amazon SageMaker to build, train, and deploy machine learning (ML) models at scale. You also learn how to use various AWS products for computer vision, natural language processing, and ML inference for connected devices.

AWS SOLUTIONS TRAINING FOR PARTNERS: MIGRATING TO AWS

This Solution Training for Partners (STP) course is intended to provide AWS Partners with best practices in applying and executing Migration Readiness and Assessment (MRA), including different work streams in Migration Readiness and Planning (MRP). The curriculum will include best practices for the following migration tools:

  • AWS Application Discovery Service and AWS Migration Hub
  • AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS)

Attendees with any AWS associate level certification and two or more years of experience in advanced networking on AWS should join this full-day, advanced-level course to learn how to prepare and succeed in the exam.

BIG DATA—SPECIALTY

The AWS Certified Big Data—Specialty exam validates technical skills and experience in designing and implementing AWS services to derive value from data. Attendees with any AWS associate level certification and two or more years of experience performing complex Big Data analyses should join this full-day, advanced-level course to learn how to prepare and succeed in the exam. We will start the day by covering the structure of the exam, including question formats. The majority of the time will be spent taking a deep dive into several data-driven use cases.
