Once again this year, we will be hosting an AWS style pep rally to kick off the week and welcome our most dedicated fans. Midnight Madness provides a sneak peek into re:Invent, complete with fun, drinks, and snacks. Come hear AWS executives give a behind-the-scenes take on AWS, discover the first launch of the week, see a marching band, and dance until 1AM!
Monday, Dec. 2
Join us for the Welcome Reception at the re:Invent Expo and at The Quad, where attendees and partners come together to connect and learn. While you’re there, speak with leading cloud technology consultants and providers, get answers from our expert AWS engineers, and hear from product leaders.
Wednesday, Dec. 4
Back this year is the 4K/8K Charity Fun Run at re:Invent. We run the re:Invent 4K/8K in memory of Sam Blackman, CEO of Elemental. Proceeds support Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization that aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science. We haven’t finalized the course this year yet, but expect to have fun running the streets of Las Vegas.
Register for the re:Invent 4K or 8K Charity Fun Run when you register. If you’ve already registered, log back into your account to add these activities to your profile. Sign up now, and avoid missing out because space is limited. The cost is $45 for the 4K and $55 for the 8K.
TatonkaAnother quirky Amazon tradition continues—the sixth annual re:Invent Tatonka Challenge. Here, you’ll embark on a quest of epic proportions: eating your way to honor through mass consumption of buffalo chicken wings (or celery for our plant-loving friends).
We will attempt to break our 2018 Guinness World Record of the largest chicken wing eating competition, which had 397 participants. Come join us, and be a part of history! More details on the date, time, and location coming soon.
Thursday, Dec. 5
Join us for the fourth annual Amazon tradition of broomball. What is broomball? Played at our annual company picnic, our homegrown variant of broomball combines aspects of traditional broomball and soccer. We play on a grass field, use a large rubber exercise ball, and have goal lines instead of nets. Again this year, the tournament takes place during re:Play.

Not just an EDM concert and interactive extravaganza, the re:Play party is the ultimate playground for those of us who didn’t get the memo that grown-ups don’t play.
Do you have a fun, quirky idea you’d love to see at re:Invent? We want to hear your ideas. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we may be showcasing your idea.
