  • Jae Lee

    CEO & Co-founder, TwelveLabs

Jae Lee is the CEO and Co-founder of TwelveLabs, a global leader in video understanding AI. TwelveLabs builds multimodal foundation models that can see, hear, and understand video like humans — powering next-generation search, analysis, and content generation. TwelveLabs’ technology is used by global media conglomerates, major sports leagues, and government agencies in South Korea and the United States. The company has raised over $120 million to date from top-tier investors, including NVIDIA, Samsung, NAVER, Databricks, Snowflake, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Radical Ventures, and Index Ventures. TwelveLabs is also supported by high-profile angel investors, including Fei-Fei Li (Stanford HAI), Alexandr Wang (Founder of Scale AI), and Giancarlo Lionetti (Chief Commercial Officer, OpenAI). TwelveLabs is one of just 12 foundation model providers selected for Amazon Bedrock, joining the ranks of Meta (Llama), Anthropic (Claude), and DeepSeek (R1) — an achievement few companies in the world can claim. Jae studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley and completed his military service as a data scientist at the Republic of Korea Cyber Operations Command, where he met his cofounders. With teams in both Korea and the US, he now leads a global organization advancing the frontier of video intelligence and reshaping how machines see and understand the world.
