Explore Our Sponsor PagesPlease read these rules before entering the Hydrate and Help Competition (“Competition”). This is a skill-based virtual competition; chance plays no part in the determination of the winner. The goal of the Competition is to see which individual can complete the most eligible actions using the Fill it Forward application on their mobile device at the virtual AWS re:Invent 2020 conference, scheduled to take place November 30 – December 18, 2020 and January 12 – 15, 2021 (the “Event”). By participating, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Amazon Web Services, Inc. (“Sponsor”, “we”, “our,” or “us”) and the judges and that you satisfy all eligibility requirements.
Open to individuals who are (1) at least 18 years of age or at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of participation; (2) registered attendees of the Event; and (3) not a resident of a jurisdiction under US export controls or sanctions (each, a “Participant”). Competition is void in Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan, the region of Crimea, and where prohibited by law. Participants may not be members of any guild, union, or other organization that may prohibit them from participating in this Competition and that would restrict, require due payment, or otherwise have the right to oppose such participant’s participation in this Competition. Directors, officers, employees, interns, and contractors (“Personnel”) of Sponsor, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and their respective advertising, promotion, and public relations agencies, representatives, and agents (collectively, “Competition Entities”), immediate family members of such Personnel (parents, siblings, children, spouses, and life partners of each) and members of the households of such Personnel (whether related or not) are ineligible to participate in this Competition.
Competition begins at 06:30:01 a.m. (PST) on November 30, 2020, and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. (PST) on January 15, 2021 (the “Competition Period”). To participate, during the Competition Period, virtual attendees of the Event can visit https://www.fillitforward.com/ or the app store on their mobile device to download and install the Fill it Forward app (the “App”), if they have not done so already. Attendees may then use the App to scan the Hydrate and Help virtual sticker hosted on the re:Invent 2020 virtual platform (“Event Platform”). To count as a qualifying scan, the Hydrate and Help virtual sticker must be scanned when a Participant fills a water bottle and drinks from it completely (no more than one scan for every five minutes, with a max of eight scans per day).
All App downloads, installations and qualifying scans of the Hydrate and Help virtual sticker (“Sticker Scans”) must be completed and received by 11:59:59 p.m. (PST) on January 15, 2021, to be considered for the Competition. Participants assume all risk of lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or unintelligible App downloads, installations, or Sticker Scans.
Sponsor’s (or its contractor’s) servers and clock shall be deemed the official clock for all phases of the Competition, and participant’s proof of downloading, installing, or using the App does not constitute proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for (i) lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, unintelligible, or inaccurate App downloads, installations, or uses, whether caused by participant or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of App downloads, installations, or uses or (ii) any printing, production, human, or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Competition.
At the conclusion of the Competition Period, the ten (10) Participants that achieve the highest number of Sticker Scans during the Event using the App (as solely determined by Sponsor, in their sole discretion) will be deemed the potential prize winners. Participants are prohibited from using the App by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, excessive Sticker Scans or improper use of the App, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
In the event of a tie, the Participant(s) to complete their final Sticker Scan via the App first will be deemed the potential prize winner(s) (as solely determined by Sponsor, in their sole discretion). In the event a potential winner is disqualified, the Participant(s) who received the next highest number of virtual sticker scans during the Event using the App (as solely determined by Sponsor, in their sole discretion) will be deemed the potential prize winner(s) and must comply with the requirements in these Official Rules. All decisions of the Sponsor and judges are final and binding.
We will award ten (10) prizes that each consist of one (1) conference pass to the AWS re:Invent 2021 conference, scheduled to occur in 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of each prize is $1,799.
Please note: Any/all air or ground transportation and accommodations will not be provided by Sponsor for any prize and will be winner’s sole responsibility.
Prizes will be fulfilled by Sponsor. If you are selected as a potential winner, Sponsor will use the information you submit in connection with this Competition to fulfill the prize. The prize winners will be required to submit their social security numbers or tax payer ID numbers to Sponsor (if applicable) in order to claim the prize. Prize awarded will be inclusive of any taxes Sponsor is required by law to withhold as well as applicable sales, use, gross receipts, goods and service, or similar transaction-based taxes.

If a potential winner is unable to participate in the prize during the dates specified, the prize may be forfeited and Sponsor may select an alternative potential winner for the prize. Upon any prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given.
Neither Competition Entities nor Sponsor are responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution, or any act or omissions whatsoever. All portions of the prize are subject to availability and change and are at the sole discretion of Sponsor. In the event the AWS re:Invent 2021 conference is postponed, Sponsor reserves the right in their sole discretion to change prize details so they are consistent with the revised conference date.
Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or any portion thereof) with an item of comparable or greater value, in its sole discretion. Prize will be awarded “AS IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). Limit one prize per person.
IF TAXES ARE APPLICABLE TO THE PRIZE, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER TO PAY TO THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES. PRIZE FULFILLMENT TO COMPETITION WINNER IS SUBJECT TO THE EXPRESS REQUIREMENT THAT THE WINNER SUBMIT TO SPONSOR ALL DOCUMENTATION REQUESTED BY SPONSOR TO PERMIT COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE STATE, FEDERAL, LOCAL, AND FOREIGN (INCLUDING PROVINCIAL) TAX REPORTING AND WITHHOLDING REQUIREMENTS. Competition winners are responsible for ensuring that the tax documentation submitted to Sponsor complies with all applicable tax laws and requirements. If a winner fails to provide the documentation or submits incomplete documentation, the prize may be forfeited and Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate winner.
By accepting the prize, each prize winner confirms that their receipt is neither prohibited nor inconsistent with any applicable laws, regulations, or binding orders, including applicable ethics or procurement rules, their receipt will not create a conflict of interest for Sponsor, and there are no ongoing competitive procurements for which your receipt of this benefit could conflict Sponsor from participating in the Competition.
Competition Entities and their Personnel will not enter into any correspondence, including email, with non-winning Participants relating to such Participants’ participation in the Competition. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found tampering with the participation process or entry materials or otherwise interfering with the proper administration of the Competition or violating these Official Rules.
